Feed settings configure the Empuls social intranet at the platform level — default sort, recommendation rules, who can pin posts, how moderation interacts with the feed, and which content types are allowed. Settings here apply to every feed in your tenant (Townhall, groups, the home feed). Open it in your tenant at https://<your-empuls-url>/home/feed-settings.

Before you start

  • You must be a Super Admin or have Social Intranet Admin permission.
  • Feed settings apply org-wide. Per-group overrides happen inside each group’s settings, not here.
  • Some settings interact with AI content moderation — review both pages together.

What you can configure

Default feed sort

Choose the default ordering of posts in the home feed:
  • Recommended — Empuls scores posts on engagement, recency, and relevance.
  • Recent — Strict chronological, newest first.
  • Most engaged — Posts with the most reactions and comments rise to the top.
Users can change the sort for their own session via the feed sort selector; this setting just picks the default.

Recommendation rules

The recommendation engine boosts certain post types. Edit the rules via the Recommendation Settings modal:
  • Boost recognition posts — Recognition gets a multiplier in the recommended sort.
  • Boost manager posts — Posts from manager-level accounts get priority.
  • Boost milestone posts — Birthdays, anniversaries, new-joiner welcomes float to the top on the relevant day.
  • Demote already-seen posts — Posts you’ve already reacted to or viewed sink down.

Post types allowed

Toggle on/off which post types employees can create:

Pinning

Choose who can pin posts to the top of a feed:
  • Super Admins only
  • Super Admins + group admins
  • Anyone with admin role on the group
Pinned posts stay visible at the top regardless of sort. Each feed has a limit of three pinned posts.

Anonymous posting

Toggle whether employees can post anonymously. Anonymous posts respect the rest of the moderation pipeline but the author is hidden from everyone except Super Admins.

Set defaults

1

Open Feed Settings

Navigate to Admin Hub → Platform Settings → Feed Settings.
2

Edit each section

Toggle settings within each section. Click Save in each section header to commit.
3

Test on a personal feed

After saving, open your own feed and confirm the new defaults apply.

Feed profile settings

A related page, Feed Profile Settings at https://<your-empuls-url>/home/feed-settings (top tab), controls what shows on the right rail of each employee’s feed: pinned events, leaderboard widget, wallet balance, learning recommendations. Toggle each widget on or off org-wide.

Interaction with content moderation

When AI content moderation is enabled, every post that would be created via the feed (regardless of type) passes through the moderation classifier first. Posts that fail moderation are blocked or held for review depending on your moderation rules — feed-settings has no effect on this gate.

Limits and gotchas

  • Default sort applies only to the home feed. Group feeds and Townhall use their own per-group defaults.
  • Disabling a post type after launch hides the type button but does not delete already-posted content of that type.
  • Recommendation changes propagate within a few minutes; very heavy feeds may take longer to fully re-rank.
  • Social intranet — Employee-facing feed reference.
  • AI settings — Content moderation rules.
  • Giphy — Required for the GIF post type.
  • Groups — Per-group settings that override feed-wide defaults.
