# Cost of Living Factor

> Configure fair, location-aware point-to-currency conversion for global teams.

## Steps

  <Step title="Navigate to Cost of Living Factor">
    Go to **Reports and Admin → Finance → Cost of Living Factor**.

  <Step title="Understand the purpose">
    The Cost of Living Index (COLI) ensures reward value is fair and impactful across countries, rather than using direct currency conversion.

    **Example:** In India, 1 point = ₹1. In the US, 1 point = $0.05. So 250 points = ₹250 in India and ~$12.50 in the US — both meaningful rewards in their respective markets.

  <Step title="Note on initial configuration">
    The COLI feature is **enabled and initially configured by the Empuls team** on the backend, tailored to each client's requirements. Platform admins cannot create COLI values from scratch directly.

  <Step title="Update point values">
    Once configured, admins can **update the point-to-currency value for each country** periodically to reflect inflation or economic changes. Adjust the value of 1 point for any country to keep rewards fair and relevant over time.
